AODA Interior Design has proudly received a Luxury Lifestyle Awards victory in the category of Best Luxury Office Interior Design in Taiwan, recognizing their innovative renovation of a 50-year-old residential property into AODA, their new design studio. This transformation exemplifies the firm’s mission to harmonize Eastern aesthetics with contemporary design, resulting in spaces that celebrate culture, enrich well-being, and honor tradition.
Initially a non-commercial property, the space presented numerous challenges, including an outdated layout. AODA addressed these issues by removing several partition walls to improve flow, converting the kitchen into a staff lounge, and replacing the front gate and solid fence to create a more inviting atmosphere. Partnering with local landscaping studio Green Humor, AODA transmuted the front porch into a lush, zen-inspired retreat, setting the stage for a serene and natural workspace.
The project reflects AODA’s belief that interior design transcends aesthetics; it plays a vital role in shaping emotions and refining quality of life. Drawing from cultural experiences, their family history and childhood memories, the design team artfully combined vintage elements with modern touches, resulting in a tranquil office environment that highlights Taiwan’s inclusive and diverse cultural landscape.
The interior features a sophisticated blend of dark tones, wood, and brass, evoking Eastern imagery, while cool tones and curved forms introduce a contemporary flair. Traditional Chinese elements, such as a round window framing outdoor vistas, foster a connection with the local community. Inside, lantern-inspired lighting, glass tabletops, and airy iron cabinets strike a balance between privacy, openness, and energy effectiveness.
AODA collaborated with Green Humor to incorporate eco-friendly materials, such as non-toxic wood oil, while preserving the building’s original textures, emphasizing their commitment to sustainability.
